Tiger Family,
West Sabine has always prided itself on being the "District that Cares". This year is no different. Please read the following with an open mind, and believe that we will create a pathway from this that will make us EVEN BETTER!
We have had a busy and high strung couple of weeks. I am proud of the commitment that our kids put forth and the many offerings they have to become better at their craft. I believe that, in time, these many energies and efforts will manifest in championships and victories. More importantly, we are filling our pipeline with more skill, talented, and dedicated academics and athletes for our bright future.
We have been operating in uncharted territory in our quest for excellence. I believe, as Thomas Jefferson stated, “If you want something you've never had. You must be willing to do something you've never done.” With that being said, we are in some new levels that our district has never seen. We want to do the right thing, and sometimes, the right thing takes some time. No one likes surprises or to be caught off guard, so therefore we plan. Even then, you can get hit with the unexpected.
Tiger Family, you know the West Sabine Way. And, that will not change. I challenge you to become active PARTNERS in that endeavor. Everyone stepping up to the plate (parents, teachers, coaches, community, and administration) and having conversations and a positive flow of communication with each other. School bashing and spreading tales that are not true or half true dilute and erode the excellence that we stand upon. Issues come up, but having an appropriate relationship through trust gives us the pride that runs through our veins. Knowing that we will always try to do what is right. I have challenged the School employees as well, and there is more to come from our perspective. My goal is this: DON'T widen the gap, BRIDGE the GAP! We are better than what I have seen in the past couple of weeks! It takes everyone!
There is more that will come from this, but it's time for ALL OF US to tighten our bootstraps and get back to the mantra: Greatness is the GOAL. Excellence is the STANDARD!
I look forward to talking with you all more. I want to build a better West Sabine. Your voices matter, especially when used in a proactive way!
In EXCELLENCE,
Dr. Carnelius D. Gilder
Superintendent of Schools

At last night's monthly board meeting, the FCCLA stopped by to showcase their program and the various projects that placed at the Region III and selected to go to State! We are proud and really enjoyed the treats! Good Luck!
