City/School Unveling

The City of Pineland and West Sabine ISD have come together to unveil one of several citywide projects to bring awareness and pride into our community.  Our citywide sign program will span to every highway entrance and school campus of the city. As part of a larger project, the Great East Texas Outdoor Fest made key donations to Sabine County to for to kickoff these endeavors.

Today, December 8, Mayor Joe Lane, City Administrator Melissa Jones, School Superintendent Carnelius Gilder, and City Utilities Superintendent Keith McCroskey came together to roll out to the community the fruits of this vision as planned by the Sabine County Economic Development Group led by countywide leaders.

“On behalf of the City of Pineland we would like to thank the Great East Texas Outdoor Fest for purchasing the Welcome To Pineland signs and Terry McGraw for making both signs. Thank you to the City of Pineland Council for purchasing the Home of Teresa Weatherspoon sign. Each entrance into town will have these two signs displayed in unison very soon.” -Keith McCroskey, City Superintendent

The kickoff for this project comes just in time for the birthday of a Hometown Hero, Teresa Weatherspoon.  Weatherspoon's worldwide accomplishments through sports and leadership have brought considerable attention to the town of Pineland as the "place where it all began."
