West Sabine ISD Welcomes Newly Elected Trustees and Announces Board Reorganization

November 17, 2025 – Pineland, Texas — West Sabine Independent School District officially welcomed two newly elected trustees during the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting on Monday evening.

Mark Wright took the oath of office to assume Seat 2, and Cody McBride was sworn in to Seat 7. Both trustees pledged to uphold the responsibilities of their new roles and support the continued growth and success of West Sabine ISD.

Following the swearing-in of trustees, the Board conducted its annual reorganization of officers. In a unanimous and supportive vote:

  • Trustee Terry Woods was elected Board President,

  • Trustee Tracee Collins will continue to serve as Vice President, and

  • Trustee Sharon Byley will continue in her long-standing role as Secretary.

Superintendent, Dr. Carnelius D. Gilder, congratulated the newly seated trustees and expressed appreciation for the leadership continuity within the officer team.

“West Sabine ISD is strengthened by dedicated individuals who commit their time and passion to serving our district,” Dr. Gilder said. “We look forward to the collaboration, vision, and steady leadership this Board will continue to provide for our students, staff, and community.”

The district extends its gratitude to all trustees—new and returning—for their commitment to advancing the mission of West Sabine ISD and supporting a culture of excellence.
