Melissa Lane

The West Sabine ISD Administrators, Faculty, and Staff are proud to announce that our 3rd Grade Teacher, Ms. Melissa Lane has been selected to receive the prestigious Gilbert I. "Buddy" Low Teacher of Excellence Award for 2023.

Ms. Lane's commitment to the greater good of West Sabine ISD students and their success made her a stand-out candidate to be nominated by the West Sabine Elementary Staff.  Her leadership, stability, resiliency, and caring spirit help to build the foundation of WSISD's ultimate Mission: Intentional Excellence, by any measure.

Lane, who was chosen from an impressive collection of nominations submitted by schools throughout Angelina, Sabine, and San Augustine Counties, has been a dedicated Tiger teacher at West Sabine Elementary who kids, parents, and colleagues admire and enjoy working with.

According to the Foundation, the Gilbert I. "Buddy" Low Excellence in Education Award was created in 2010 to celebrate and recognize superior contributions of teachers whose leadership and dedication inspire a spirit of learning in students of all backgrounds and learning abilities.

Last night, Lane was recognized and celebrated by the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and Administration at the March Regular School Board Meeting where Dr. Gilder, Mrs. McClenny, and Mrs. Hall presented her with roses, a certificate and a District Proclamation certifying today, March 22, 2023 as the Ms. Melissa Lane Day of Excellence.

Today, the entire elementary campus gathered as the proclamation was read and presented to Mrs. Lane.  As stated in the proclamation, "The Tiger Nation is beaming with pride..., we are overjoyed, and we appreciate Ms. Lane for all she has done with and for our students and classrooms!"

It is definitely a Great Day to be a Tiger!
