Discontinuation of Remote Learning Program

West Sabine ISD, under the guidance of the Texas Education Agency and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, developed and implemented the West Sabine ISD Remote Learning Program to provide families with the option to attend school virtually or in person at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.

West Sabine ISD has monitored the progress of all students, both virtual and in person, through the first nine weeks of instruction. After multiple discussions and the review of data regarding virtual student performance and attendance, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of all West Sabine ISD remote learners to return to campus for in-person instruction.

The timeline for implementation is below:
-October 20, 2020: Remote students can begin to transition to in person learning.
-November 3, 2020: All students will be on campus. Dissolution of remote option
unless in quarantine.

We look forward to welcoming all WSISD students back to the classroom. Students and staff will still be expected to follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines established in the 2020 WSISD Re-opening School Plan, Tiger Strong Start. However, should you choose to pursue alternative means of education for your child, we wish everyone success. As you prepare to make a decision that best suits your family, options that are
suitable for meeting the compulsory education laws include:

-Withdraw to home school.
-Request a transfer to another neighboring district that offers a remote learning program.
-Enroll in the Virtual School Network, K12,or similar online education platform.

Arrangements for students who are in quarantine or have medically fragile situations will be handled on a case by case basis by the District Nurse and the campus principal. As we face the continued possibility of direct exposures and confirmed cases of COVID-19, West Sabine ISD will continue to use our remote learning plan for those quarantined for the required time period.

West Sabine ISD and the Board of Trustees are committed to the success of our students and staff and look forward to the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
