Storm Updates
08/23/2020

IN ADVANCE OF MARCO AND LAURA, GOVERNOR ABBOTT HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR 23 TEXAS COUNTIES - SABINE COUNTY IS NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDED, however Jasper and Newton counties are.

From emergency management:

If the forecasted tracks hold true both for both Marco and Laura, our area will be dealing with both storms......Marco on Tuesday and Laura on Thursday.
Marco is forecasted to basically be a rainmaker. However Laura is currently forecast to be a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100mph with higher gusts.  The current forecast for Laura makes it comparable to the strength of Rita from 2005.

By the time Laura hits, Marco will have the ground wet, maybe saturated depending the path of Marco.  If Marco causes a saturated ground, followed by 100mph winds, trees may easily topple.
Please prepare now for lost power, downed power lines and trees (blocking traffic), loss of water/water pressure and loss of phone/internet services.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION AS UPDATES ARE DISSEMINATED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
Please keep a watchful eye on the weather.
We will post updates as we receive them.
