How Parents Can Help

  • Please make sure that your child is at school and on time (8:00am). Attendence is very important to ensure that your child does not fall behind.
  • Please check your child's binder every night. This is where we will place any important notes and the Kindergarten newsletter to inform you of what we are learning for that week.
  • Please complete any homework that is sent home and, if your child is absent, please complete their missed work at home and return it to the teacher.

Below are a few tips on how you can help your child at home:

We would like to say

 for all you do for your child, their teacher, and the school.

Before starting

      Parents, please, work with your child to be able to:

  • Say his or her first and last name
  • Know their phone number
  • Tie their shoes on their own
  • Take care of basic needs on their own (restrooms, tissues, etc.)
  • Read often (You read to them, they pretend read)
  • Count to 10
  • Use scissors and glue
  • Attempt to write their own name
  • Sing the alphabet
  • Tell an adult when they need help or when somewthing is wrong
  • Follow two step directions
  • Take turns and share
  • Know the teacher's name

Starting this year, Kindergarten students will given numerical grades, progress reports, and report cards every six weeks. Kindergarten students will be given grades in Math, ELA/Reading, Science/Social Studies, PE, and Conduct.

The Math, ELA/Reading, and Science/Social Studies grades will consist of 5 daily grades, 5 test grades, and a six weeks test grade. These grades will be averaged together to determine the report card grade for the six weeks.

A= 90-100

B= 89-80

C= 79-75

D= 74-70

The conduct grade will be a letter grade depending on the behavior of the student.

E = Excellence

S = Satisfactory

N = Not at Grade Level

U = Unsatisfactory

**This grading policy is described in the students handbook on page 78.**

If you have any questions regarding your child's grades, please contact their teacher during conference time.
