About Special Education

Special education means specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. Specially designed instruction means adapting to the needs of a child, the content, methodology or delivery of instruction.  The instruction is adapted as needed to address the child's unique needs related to the child's disability and to ensure access to the general curriculum.

How Parents Can Help

Parents can help by partnering with the school for positive results for children. There are many opportunities for learning in everyday life.  The attitude of the parent about school and education is the most important element in a child's academic success. These benefits do not just apply to academics. Parental involvement in the educational process results in a positive effect on children's attitudes and behaviors.

Each special education student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) developed by the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee.
