In Pre-K we will not have formal "homework". We will include a list of "homework choices" on the weekly newsletter. You and your child may choose at least one idea to complete for homework each week. You will fill out what activity was chosen, sign and return the attached form. It is vitally important to your child's education that he/she is read to on a regular basis. Please spend a few minutes each day reading to your child.
This weeks homework choices are:
If students are to have a positive learning enviornment, there must be order in the classroom. Pre-Kindergarten students will be learning to make good choices and exercising self-control. If your child displays an inappropriate behavior, he/she will be given at least two verbal warnings. If the child continues to exhibit inappropriate behavior, he/she will have a portion of center time taken away from them. If this does not correct the problem, a phone call will be made to a parentor guardian. If all of the above does not work, the student will receive a paddling or be sent to Mrs. Edward's office.
Tardies and Absences
It is extremely important for your child to be at school everyday and on time. If at all possible, please keep absences and tardies to a minimum. We all know that kids get sick and other things happen out of our control. When children miss school, they are missing learning even in Pre-Kindergarten. When your child returns to school following an absence, they must bring a doctor's excuse or a note from the parent regarding the reason for absence.
Both Pre-K classes use a snack calendar for snack time. Each student is assigned a specific day to bring snacks for all students. Please check your child's folder for the calendar. At this time both classes have 20 students, so you will need to be sure to bring enough snacks for each student. List of acceptable snacks: fruit snacks, fruit roll-ups, trail mix, nuts, jerky, pretzels, fat-free popcorn, graham crackers, peanut butter crackers, cereal, vanilla wafers, fresh fruit, and string cheese.
